Schedule a Visit
Iowa City is in the rolling hills of Eastern Iowa. By car we are two hours East of Des Moines on Interstate 80. We are just four hours from Chicago and St. Louis; five hours from Minneapolis.
What is the IOWA Experience?
We hope you have an opportunity to visit Iowa City to see the campus; meet our students, faculty and staff; see a production in the Theatre Building and a concert in the Department of Dance or in the School of Music; stroll through the ped mall downtown; enjoy brunch at Fair Grounds, a great lunch at Oasis or Banditos or the Blue Bird Diner, coffee at Wild Bill's or Teaspoons (or the dozens of other great places to dine); bike along the many miles of paved paths that criss-cross the city; take a walk along the Iowa River. No matter what season, there is a lot going on in Iowa City.

The University Admissions Office will then contact us. If you want to see one of our shows while you are in town or if you have a specific area of interest in Theatre, make sure to let the admissions counselor know in advance of your visit.

For MFA Applicants
We recommend that you visit Iowa City to see the campus, meet our students and faculty, and discuss the training opportunities Theatre Arts and the University of Iowa have to offer.
Applicants to one of our six MFA programs should schedule visit with program heads directly, preferably two weeks in advance. It is strongly suggested that you begin the application process prior to coming to Iowa City.
