What Has Been Seen...
What Has Been Seen, or: How The Old Man with Chingos Big Wings Learned to Love Bertolt Brecht in the Time of Cholera (The Zoot Suit 30th Anniversary Edition)
Antics get wacky when an auteur director tries to hijack a playwright’s text in service of their own questionable “Artistic Vision.” As two actors try and protect the author’s words, nothing in the theatre business is spare: performers, dramaturgs, Meisner warm-ups, hapless lighting designers, embittered stage managers, Latino playwrights, directors-who-cast-based-on-shoe-size; all are singed in the satire that eventually hits a tad close to a certain theatrical hub on Iowa City’s dear Riverside Drive.
