An All-Black Affair is a student-run event that showcases the artistic talents of Black and African students and folks in the greater Iowa City community. This year the event is titled Soulful Celebration. The theme is inspired by the legendary television series Soul Train so please come dressed to impress in your best 70's wear! This event is open to all races and ethnicities. Please join us as we kick off Black History Month with a night of singing, comedy, dancing, and games with prizes!

This event is presented in collaboration with the Afro-American Cultural Center (Afro House).

Please be advised this event will be video recorded and include flashing lights, loud audio, and strong language.

Borderless is an event series created by the Department of Theatre Arts to produce theatrical works representing a wide diversity of experiences. We believe this is essential for students, faculty, administrators, and community members (in our predominantly white institution and town) to encounter onstage. The initiative emerged in spring 2020 under the name “Diverse Voices” and was renamed Borderless in the fall of 2020 to more clearly embrace its essential pillar: collaboration.

We’re dedicated to working beyond the walls of the Theatre Building and permeating borders between university departments, across campus, and beyond, to the professional theater world.
