Vincent van Gogh arrives in Paris determined to finally make his mark as an artist. Weaving between the years of 1886 and 1888, with a contemporary spin on the language and the characters, we are given a seat at the renowned Tambourin Cafe and invited into the Salon of the famed painters of the Petit Boulevard. Desperate to gain the recognition he believes he deserves, van Gogh must navigate his rocky relationships with friends, lovers, foes, and his high-achieving younger brother. Kimber Lee’s To the Yellow House asks, “What makes an artist?” and forces us to consider the cost of forging our own path.
